May 23 is SWRHA Rookie Day!!

Not only are you supporting a great cause, the Dale Wilkinson Memorial Crisis Fund, but you are in for a great day of instruction provided by some of the industry’s top trainers. It’s a day designed for you; small group instruction with fellow reiners learning this awesome sport. In the morning you’ll learn techniques and tips, followed by a chance to practice your new skills in an actual pattern. NRHA judge Joe Schmidt, will judge your pattern, and give you feedback immediately after your run. Your coaches for the day will be able to review your run with you as well- giving you as much feedback as you would like.

Specifics of the day are below, beginning with location, at Cardinal Reining Horses. Joao Marcos has again graciously donated the use of this fantastic facility. You will find an address suitable for GPS/navigation included the following information. The recent rains have meant the clinic will be restricted to the indoor arena; but thankfully it is one of the industry’s largest! Schedule, Trainer/Participant List, and some reminders follow.

Southwest Reining Horse Association Achieves Gold Level Affiliate Status

The Southwest Reining Horse Association was notified by National Reining Horse Association Senior Coordinator of Affiliates and Events Megan Lundquist in mid-February that it has achieved 2014 Gold Level Affiliate status.

According to the Southwest Reining Horse Association, Savanna Robbins of the SWRHA Office worked closely with NRHA personnel to assure that all requirements were met for the designation – the highest an affiliate can reach.

The Affiliate status program was begun in 2006 to encourage NRHA Affiliates to increase their involvement and to acknowledge those that achieve a level of excellence.

SWRHA On-line Stallion Service Auction has ended but you can still get breedings at the listed starting bid.

Proceeds from the Southwest Reining Horse Association Stallion Auction provide the bulk of the added money for our annual Futurity & Show. Please consider donating a breeding to your stallion so we can continue - with your support - to make this a great show!

Your sold breeding makes your stallion eligible for sire awards - which have traditionally been custom-painted golf carts - and your stallion's name is also put in a drawing for a golf cart.

We saw the SIGN! Thanks to Cardinal Training Center owner Joao Marcos for graciously becoming the permanent host of the SWRHA Board meetings and functions!
